Percy Harvin praises Greg Roman: ‘Best coordinator out there'

Percy Harvin and Greg Roman, offensive minds who once stood on opposite sidelines during their time in the NFC West, have joined forces in Buffalo, and it couldn't be going much better.

“Greg is the best coordinator out there, in my opinion,” the Bills receiver told the Buffalo News.

“Just the vision he gives us, the way he’s able to motion guys and get the matchups he wants, the different schemes we’ve got up front blocking wise," Harvin said. "Anybody can have a big day.”

Harvin has 16 receptions for 192 yards and a touchdown in three games this season, putting him on pace to have his best season since he was a Minnesota Viking.

But the Bills have also done a solid job distributing the ball, as well, which Harvin illustrates.

“If he wants Sammy to catch a ball, he can move Sammy in a certain position,” Harvin said of Roman. “He can motion him, he can motion a tight end, we’re always causing confusion, always causing the defense to react to our motions. .... I mean, he’s a beast.”

A look at the numbers:
- The Bills have 12 offensive touchdowns scored by nine different players
- No. 1 in the league in rushing
- No. 3 highest scoring offense
- No. 2 in the league in the red zone (29th last two seasons)

“That’s the crux of kind of what we do,” Roman said. “In this league, pretty much anybody can really take away anybody if they really wanted to. If you’re trying to force the ball all game, as you see some teams do, the results aren’t what we’re looking for. I think it just speaks of our breadth of talent.”

Roman, 43, was the 49ers' offensive coordinator from 2011-2014 during the tenure of former head coach Jim Harbaugh.

In his first three seasons with the 49ers, the team finished 11th in points scored. They finished 25th in scoring in Roman's final campaign.
