Eleven days after the A's lost Sandy Rosario to a waiver claim, the 27-year-old right-hander is headed back to the Bay Area. The Giants claimed Rosario off waivers from the Cubs Friday, exacting the fifth transaction this offseason that involved the relief pitcher.

Rosario was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox from the Marlins on Oct. 17. He was designated for assignment and traded to the A's for a player who was later named -- Graham Godfrey -- on Nov. 28. Twelve days later, the Red Sox stole him back by claiming him off waivers. Next, the Cubs claimed Rosario from the Red Sox on Dec. 12, setting up Friday's acquisition by the Giants.

Rosario has 10 major league appearances over the past three seasons with the Marlins, authoring a 15.26 ERA with four strikeouts and three walks in 7 2/3 innings.
