Peace brokered between Gannon, Raiders

ALAMEDA -- Looking for a story to warm your hearts, Raider Nation?No, running back Darren McFadden was not out at practice on Friday morning, and neither were defensive tackle John Henderson or quarterback Jason Campbell, making their playing in Sunday's regular season finale against San Diego less than doubtful.Rather, a peace appears to have been brokered between Raiders senior executive John Herrera and former Raiders quarterback and NFL MVP Rich Gannon, who is in town to broadcast the game for CBS.The two walked out together to watch practice Friday morning and chatted it up, at least during the media window.

Two years ago, in the wake of what the organization saw as unfair criticism by QB-turned-broadcaster Gannon, the Raiders tried to have Gannon removed from a CBS telecast of a Raiders-Denver game at the Coliseum, but the network relented. The Raiders also tried to ban him from the Alameda compound for the production meeting.Herrera was the Raiders' voice in the discussion."He's repeatedly said that they should just blow up the building and start all over again," Herrera told Associated Press at the time. "He hasn't done that once or twice, but has done that repeatedly. He continually attacks the owner, he continually attacks the organization in every way that he can. After listening to all of that for the last several years why would you want him in your building when all he does is attack the organization that made his career?"It's kind of like the dog you have at home. You nurture him, feed him, take care of him and all he wants to do is bite you."Two years of healing, and other events, and things have obviously changed."We kind of made up earlier in the year," a smiling Herrera told CSNCalifornia.com following Friday's practice.
