Barry Bonds ‘big-leagues' Dodgers' Pederson

Growing up playing baseball in Palo Alto, it's easy to see how Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder, and Palo Alto High School alum, Joc Pederson admired San Francisco Giants legend Barry Bonds.

But now, maybe some of that love for Bonds has been lost.

During a recent interview with Fox Sports Live, Pederson told the story of when, during a Miami Marlins visit to Los Angeles, he lived out a childhood dream of meeting Bonds.

It's safe to say the actual experience didn't quite live up to the dream.

When asked if he was still of fan of Bonds, Pederson said "I was...."

"I won't take anything away from what he's done on the field. I still think he's the best player to ever pick up a bat -- best hitter," Pederson said. "(But) I went up to him and said, 'Hey man, you're my favorite player. Can we get a picture?' I don't know, he kind of just turned his back on me and looked -- I don't know, he big-leagued me. I kind of stood there awkwardly for a little bit.

"Trust me, I was flustered."

The Marlins swept the Dodgers during the end-of-April series. Pederson appeared in all four games, started twice, and went 1-for-6 at the plate with two walks, a strikeout and three runners left on base.

Pederson was born in 1992, the year before Barry Bonds arrived as a free agent to the Giants.

The young Dodgers outfielder is hitting .256 in 2016 with eight home runs and 24 RBI. His 34 career home runs are 728 short of Bonds' all-time Major League Baseball record.

Pederson was a National League all-star last season and finished sixth in the Rookie of the Year voting.
