On Thursday night, the Giants acquired Eduardo Nunez from the Twins.

"He's gonna be back, and what Bobby Evans told Duffy yesterday was, 'This is not replace you; this is to protect you,' Mike Krukow explained on KNBR 680 on Friday morning. "And what they'll do with Duffy, they're not gonna run him out there seven days out of seven. He's gonna get two or three of those days off. So, it makes the whole infield better...
"Plus he can play the outfield. If you get a real tough lefty out there, Span can get a day off ... it gives you versatility. But what they like about him is his bat. He's hitting .300, he's got 12 bombs, he can steal you a base -- he's got 26 of those ... and I don't think they're done either. I think they're gonna bring in an arm, maybe more than one arm."
Duffy, who is hitting .253 with four home runs and 21 RBI this season, has not played since June 19 because of an Achilles injury.

He's expected to start a rehab stint this weekend, and could be back with the Giants in about a week.
Joe Panik returned to the lineup on Thursday night after missing 23 games with concussion-like symptoms.
Is it possible that the Giants could look to trade either Duffy or Panik, and insert Nunez as an everyday player?
"I don't think that's gonna happen, but look, it's baseball," Krukow answered. "And it's a business and anything can happen. But I do think this is a trade for depth. I do think this is a trade for versatility ... the more talent you have, the more versatile talent you have, the more athletic talent you have, the stronger you are.
"And that's what they're asking Nunez to be."
