Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong confirmed that he will be a member of Team USA's rotation in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Jon Heyman of CBS reported Sunday that Vogelsong would join knuckleballer R.A. Dickey and Andy Pettitte in the American rotation and Comcast SportsNet's Jaymee Sire confirmed the news with the right-hander.
Vogelsong went 14-9 with a 3.37 ERA in 2012 before winning his first World Series title. He re-joined the Giants in the 2011 season after he was originally drafted by San Francisco in the 5th round of the 1998 MLB Draft. He spent much of the time in between stints with the Giants with the Pittsburgh Pirates and in Japan.
The Japanese team has won the first two WBCs, held in 2006 and 2009. The semi-finals and final round of this year's tournament will be held on Vogelsong's home field at AT&T Park.
