Trasolini leads Santa Clara past Cal Poly

SANTA CLARA -- Marc Trasolini scored 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting, leading Santa Clara to a 72-64 victory Monday night over Cal Poly in the schools' first meeting since 2005.

Evan Roquemore added 16 points, including two free throws that gave the Broncos (9-2) the lead for good, 52-50, with 8:32 to play. Raymond Cowels III chipped in 12 points and Kevin Foster had 10 points and seven assists. Santa Clara made the most of Cal Poly's 13 turnovers, scoring 17 points off them.

Chris Eversley led the Mustangs (4-5) with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Kyle Odister scored 11, including three 3-pointers, off the bench.

Cal Poly's 11-0 run, capped by Dylan Royer's layup 2 minutes into the second half, put the Mustangs up 33-31, and Santa Clara stayed close but didn't lead again until Roquemore's free throws, part of a 13-2 Broncos run that put the game away.
