Scouting combine kicks off this week

Indianapolis, the host city of the Super Bowl earlier in the month, becomes the host city for the entire NFL this week. The top draft-eligible football players will begin arriving Wednesday for the annual NFL scouting combine, which concludes Tuesday, Feb. 28.
My yearly visit to Indianapolis will run Wednesday evening through Sunday. Coverage from the scouting combine will begin Thursday morning when 49ers general manager Trent Baalke and coach Jim Harbaugh meet with the media.I'm sure a lot of you will have questions about the players at the combine. Here's one thing you should know about the media arrangements at the combine: People watching the NFL Network from home have a better view of the workouts than the media assigned to cover the event. Some media members are selected to view the quarterback-and-receiver sessions on Sunday, but, otherwise, the NFL Network cameras have a media monopoly on the workouts inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
But that's OK. The value of the combine from a media standpoint is the access to nearly every NFL coach and general manager, as well as a large number of the 327 draft-eligible players invited to participate. Here's a look at when the different position groups will be available to the media:
Thursday: Offensive line, tight ends, special teams
Friday:Quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers
Saturday:Defensive line, linebackers
Sunday:Defensive backsPlayers have four days of responsibilities at the combine that goes like this:
Day 1: Travel to Indianapolis, registration, hospital pre-examination and X-rays, orientation, interviews with teams.
Day 2: Measurements, medical exams, media, psychological testing, interviews with teams.
Day 3: NFLPA meeting psychological testing, interviews with teams.
Day 4: Workout (timing, stations, skill drills, departure from Indianapolis.I'll arrive back home Sunday night. And the TV coverage of the workouts will continue through Tuesday, when the defensive backs conclude their on-field work.
Which players do you believe would look good in a 49ers uniform next season?
