Despite return, Warriors' Kerr ‘still not 100 percent'

PHOENIX – A little more than three weeks after he returned from a leave of absence, Warriors coach Steve Kerr continues to cope with the symptoms that sidelined him for nearly four months.

Though he’s with the team in Phoenix and plans to coach Wednesday night against the Suns, Kerr is coming off perhaps his most difficult day since he returned on Jan. 22.

Kerr told CSNBayArea.com Wednesday morning that he’s “still not 100 percent” and remains captive to some of the painful side effects in the wake of multiple back surgeries last summer.

That much was evident Tuesday night, as Kerr labored through his post-game news conference after the Warriors’ 123-110 win over Houston at Oracle Arena. The Warriors after the game confirmed that Kerr was feeling sick.

Kerr said he back is OK but that other complications – headaches in particular – have not completely gone away. He indicated upon his return that there may be occasions when he’d need to step aside for a day or two.

Suffice to say, Kerr is looking forward to the All-Star break beginning Thursday and continuing through next the afternoon of Feb. 17. He will stay in California, as general manager Bob Myers will travel to Toronto as part of the team’s All-Star Weekend contingent.
